Al Eqbal Real Estate Development and Hotels has commenced the installation of decontaminating UVC emitters for the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems of the upcoming Ritz-Carlton Hotel and Residences in Amman - marking a first for the international hospitality industry.
In collaboration with Petra Engineering Industries Co. and Arab Technical Group-Daikin, germicidal UVC emitters supplied by Philips and Steril-Aire are being installed - featuring antiallergenic, antibacterial, antimicrobial, air purifying and pathogen reducing properties - to improve the quality of both fresh and recirculated air. The introduction aims to further ensure the health and wellbeing of guests, residents, visitors and employees upon the project’s planned opening in mid-2021.
“Although UVC emitters have been utilized for quite some time, primarily in facilities requiring high levels of disinfection, never before have they been used within the hospitality industry. We are very proud and excited to be spearheading this initiative at the upcoming Ritz-Carlton Hotel and Residences in Amman, where the health and safety of our future guests and homeowners will be a top priority. We made sure to collaborate with leading international suppliers and extend every precautionary measure available to offer everyone on our premises ease of mind by knowing they will be enjoying a clean and comfortable environment,” commented Al Eqbal Real Estate Development and Hotels CEO, Emad Kilani.
In turn, Eng. Waleed Al Refai from Petra Engineering Industries Co. elaborated, “UVC lamps, which are an advanced disinfection technology, are commonly used across the healthcare, food processing and pharmaceutical industries to sterilize circulated air by deactivating airborne viruses, bacteria, mold and spores.”
Furthermore, Arab Technical Group Chief Technical Officer, Eng. Rahi Al Asad, added, “We are delighted that the prestigious Ritz-Carlton project has chosen to leverage our high-efficiency UVC emitters - thereby becoming the first hotel and residences to use this technology within their HVAC systems.”
